Ribblesdale Goat is a modern vegetarian hard cheese created in 1982 by Ian and Christine Hill. Ribblesdale Goat is highly valued for its fresh, simple flavour. With a suggestion of chicory, almonds and wild herbs from the misty Yorkshire hills such is the flavour that despite its modern heritage Ribblesdale Goat won a Bronze Award in the 1996 British Cheese Awards. Although normally a goat’s cheese it is also available from cow’s milk and as a garlic or smoked cheese.
