The Calendar Girls 12 Delicious Plain Chocolates
The 1999 Calendar, was a tribute to Angela Baker's husband John, who tragically died from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Her friend Tricia Stewart was inspired by the traditional Women's Institute calendars which featured landscapes and recipes, and thanks to the talent of photographer Terry Logan and four other very good friends, created the first ''Alternative'' WI Calendar. The girls hoped that sales of the Calendar would raise funds to provide a sofa for the hospital in Leeds where John was treated. This and subsequent calendars were such a success that the Girls have already raised over £1 million for Leukaemia Research.
The sunflower was John's favourite flower and remains the symbol of the Calendar Girls.
